Application Process, Components, and Instruction
The Computer Science Scholar application process opens in late fall each year; applicants can send their Scholars application materials at the same time they submit their university application. We will begin reviewing applications in February, once all application components are received, and continue reviewing weekly until all scholarships have been awarded.
In addition to the Longwood University Application, consideration for the Computer Science Scholars Program requires the following supplementary components:
- A résumé outlining your academic history, community engagement, and employment experiences. Please include any computer science coursework or extracurricular activities.
- Write a personal statement explaining your professional aspirations and how our computer science scholars program would benefit you and help you obtain those goals.
- Explain a challenging experience that you have had in the sciences, mathematics, or computer science. How might you apply that to work in the computer science major at Longwood?
- One letter of reference from a high school teacher who can speak to your interest in and dedication to pursuing a degree in computer science as well as your overall professionalism.
Submission
Your resume, personal statement, and challenging experience should be submitted electronically in an attached PDF to csscholars@longwood.edu. Your letter of reference can also be emailed directly to this address.
