Purpose

The Longwood Computer Science Scholars program provides financial and academic support to students pursuing careers in Computer Science at Longwood University. The Computer Science Scholars Program offers a welcoming learning community, dedicated faculty mentors, and financial student support. At its core is our commitment to help you achieve your full potential as a computer scientist.

Scholarship

[Student working at a whiteboard to develop an algorithm] Students accepted into the Computer Science Scholars program are awarded a scholarship of $6,000 per year ($24,000 total for four years) as long as program requirements are maintained.

Personal and Professional Development

As a Computer Science Scholar, you will have the opportunity to participate in research activities and immerse yourself in professional development and community-building programs.

Before you come to Longwood, you will be invited to participate in a virtual community with other incoming STEM majors. Then, in August, our summer jump-start program – with its workshops and peer and faculty mentoring – will help you prepare for your first semester at Longwood by developing key classroom skills and building confidence as a computer scientist.
